SPARQ has delivered or is currently delivering, a number of major
ICT projects for clients, including:
- Trade Sale - As a result of the Queensland Government's
Industry Review into the energy sector in 2006, a decision was
taken to sell the retail businesses of the government-owned energy
corporations - ENERGEX (servicing southeast Queensland) and Ergon
Energy (servicing regional Queensland) and the AllGas gas business.
For SPARQ Solutions, this has meant the preparation of information
for potential buyers and the separation of systems and applications.
- Full Retail Competition (FRC) - In preparation for FRC
in the electricity industry in Queensland from 1 July 2007, SPARQ
Solutions assisted clients by separating systems and upgrading
applications to cater for new legislative requirements and the
demands on the distribution businesses of many new clients as
part of this >$35 million project.
- Joint Enterprise Transformation (JET) - This project
encompassed a roll-out firstly within Ergon Energy and SPARQ Solutions
(over two years, to the value of $103 million), and then ENERGEX,
which involved the implementation of the IT aspects of the new
business management software, Ellipse. This major Enterprise Resource
Planning (ERP) project replaced 180 legacy systems in Ergon Energy
and included implementing 72 interfaces and 19 new processes,
including asset management, works management, finance, logistics,
human resources and payroll. It was the first time it had been
done in one implementation. Implementation of an ERP is generally
regarded as the most intensive IT project that any corporation
will undertake, and for this to be delivered at the same time
as the other major projects is unprecedented in Queensland and
impressive even on a whole of country basis.
- Field Force Automation (FFA) - This project involves
the implementation of an FFA system for ENERGEX, which allows
accurate, timely and efficient access to applications from the
field, particularly work dispatch. This is the first release of
the latest version of the Advantex systems in the world. The system
has been deployed to over 700 vehicles and provides a platform
for broader applications.
